What the ‘ell is wrong with America.
Oh my apologies, I forgot America is. Republic … Just not a democratic one which is run by powerful interests that persuade Congress, President how high to Hump, oops sorry jump.
The Wall St Journal posts an interesting article…
U.S. Military Proposes Challenge to China Sea Claims
Then this small matter, on armaments purchases … “In his bill set to pass this week to overhaul how the Pentagon buys weapons, the new chairman of the House Armed Services Committee relied heavily on those with most at stake: the nation’s arms makers.”
Not the first time financial/pecuniary interests have written legislation… One bill that sailed through the House Financial Services Committee in 2013, over the objections of the US Treasury Department, was essentially Citigroup’s, according to e-mails reviewed by The New York Times. The bill would exempt broad swathes of trades from new regulation.
In a sign of Wall Street’s resurgent influence in Washington, Citigroup’s recommendations were reflected in more than 70 lines of the House committee’s 85-line bill. Two crucial paragraphs, prepared by Citigroup in conjunction with other Wall Street banks, were copied nearly word for word. (Lawmakers changed two words to make them plural.)
Bank lobbyists are not leaving it to lawmakers to draft legislation that softens financial regulations. Instead, the lobbyists are helping to write it themselves.
Then you have ALEC. Hello ALEC….
“ALEC is a prime example of how Corporate America is able to buy even more power and clout in government. Rather than serve the public interest, ALEC champions the agenda of corporations which are willing to pay for access to legislators and the opportunity to write their very own legislation.”
This is just scratching the surface of the land of the free. Money maketh money, money is the root cause of politicians envy and deceit in doing their job. They do not represent the people, that has long gone.
I posted on a previous blog about Soros, Number 1 Carpetbagger // Carpet Baggers / Economic Hit Men a quote.
“War against a foreign country only happens when the moneyed classes think they are going to profit from it.”
Now we have the Pope recently proclaiming a similar statement in that “Many powerful people don’t want peace because they live off war,” (RT.com)
He went on to say ….”This is serious. Some powerful people make their living with the production of arms and sell them to one country for them to use against another country,” the Pope was cited by AGI news agency as saying.
“Peace must be built day by day and even if, one day in the future, we can say that there will finally be no more wars, then too peace will be built day by day because peace is not an industrial product, it is artisanal: it is built day by day through our mutual love, our closeness,” he said.
Although I am atheist I am allowed to like this Pope, he even tried to wake up the strict bureaucracy and hard liners within the inner sanctum of the Church…. Tried and failed. . . Power at work within the Catholic Church which can override any ‘change’ that the Pope suggests.
Any way I digress. In reality those people that have sway with the US politicians here are a few links to mull over. A lot of money involved….
Also the Corporations that are beneficially interested in war…
